How to use resize images

- Review the detected format. A mismatch between the file signature and its name is rejected for safety.
- Choose the output format, quality, optional target size, and resize settings that apply to this task.
- Enable first-frame or first-page extraction only when you understand that additional animation frames or pages will not be preserved.

Dimensions, quality, and target size
Resizing uses high-quality browser canvas interpolation after orientation is applied. Aspect-ratio preservation is on by default, and prevent-enlargement avoids inventing extra pixels unless you deliberately change that setting.
Target-size mode uses a bounded quality search for lossy formats, records the closest candidate, and stops after a fixed number of attempts. The goal is to get within five percent when realistically possible. PNG may need reduced dimensions or a different output format because lossless pixel data has a practical size floor.
Practical example
Suppose a JPEG file is too large for a website or message. Start with an 82% quality setting, keep the original dimensions for the first run, and compare the preview and output size. If it remains too large, set a maximum width that matches its real display size. For a fixed upload limit, add a target size and let the bounded search find the closest candidate. Keep the original file separately so you can return to it later.

No. Selection, decoding, processing, preview creation, and downloads happen inside your browser. Ordinary page requests still go to the hosting provider.
