Why did transparency disappear?
JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels use the chosen JPEG background.
Does conversion improve quality?
No. It changes compatibility but cannot recreate detail missing from the source.
Does this use a server converter?
No. A self-hosted browser codec decodes AVIF locally.
